Conca DEi Marini
Picturesque and charming fishing village of Conca dei Marini, like all the
other towns of the Amalfi Coast , he tied his story to the events of the ancient
Maritime Republic of Amalfi: the chronicles of the time, in fact , describe the

Among the sites of major artistic and naturalistic , we can not report :
- The Monastery of St. Rose of Lima with the Church of Santa Maria di Grado. Former Dominican monastery , built in the seventeenth century on a rocky outcrop overlooking the entire Gulf of Salerno , present the aspect of a severe, although it is rich and comfortable inside. Here, according to tradition , was built the exquisite puff Santarosa " filled with cream and pieces of fruit . Preserved in the church is the head of St. Barnabas the Apostle , one of the most important relics of the Amalfi Coast .
- The Church of San Pancrazio , surrounded by a beautiful olive grove ( which tells often used to wander in search of inspiration , the poet Alfonso Gatto ), boasts an unparalleled view of the Faraglioni of Capri and Positano. A bit of history
Many old legends tell of the founding of the Amalfi Coast, which underwent many different vicissitude but always guided by fliexible divine or higher will. All these legends date the town back ro roman times and are confirmed by recent archaeological finds from the age of late imperial Rome.Critical analysis of these finds shows that the Amalfi coast was settled around the fifth century AD when the Germanic tribes invaded the plain of Campania .The refugees from the Roman townships thet were now at the mercy of the barbarianstook refuge in the Monti Lattari.It was here that they founded the fist villages and in particular Scala. Then the refugees moved down to the valley and boult the towns of Amalfi and Atrani.They started to travel by sea and built up intense trade with North Africa and the Middle East.
However, at the beginning of the roman empire the nobiles of the senatorial class began to build patrician villas along the cosat anfd hills because the emperor Tiberius had decided to live more or less permanently on the island of Capri. These villas were located in the island of Gallo Lungo, Positano, Minori and Tramonti.
From 839 to 1131 the Amalfi coast , which corresponds to the present day Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri and part of the area around the Vesuvius, became a self governing republic. This territory not only included the coast from Cetara to Positano but also the chain of the Monti Lattari. This land was well protected by an intricate network of castle and towers. These fortifications date back to different periods and were built for different purposes..The castle were the oldest type of fortification and go bach to the time of the indipendent republic ( 839-1131). they werer mostly distribuited on the hights peaks in the areas of Stabia, Scala, Ravello and Tramonti. there was and another line of fortresses half way down the coast which mainly provided refuge for the populations of the costal areas in the event of attacks from the sea.
The maritime towns of the Amalfi Coast republic still have traces of an architecture that was influnced by the Arabs and Byzantium. We call thi style "maritime" because it is closely connected with maritime activities. The most strikingexample of this architecture is without doubt the Amalfi dockyard. This is a medieval shipyard in which the war galleys were built.
The layout and architecture of the four main civitates of the maritime duchy, Amalfi, Atrani, Ravello and Scala. were dominated by dwelling of the aristocracy that political and ecclesiastical power and ran the economy.These dwellings were up to five storeys in height and had sloper or dome-shaped roofs.They comprised an entrance hall porticoes and colonnades, a main hall with a large fireplace, and a kitchen on the last floor. On the outside walls there were WCs with terracotta pipes that drained into rivers or the sea.Importanto remain of other dwellings can also be seen in Vagliendola district, those of Via Pietro Capuano and around the Piazze del Municipio square in Amalfi, The palazzi in Ravello belonging to the Rufolo, Confalone families and others...
The religious faith of the people is not reflected in the territory of the medieval duchy, but also in the overseas coloniens in byzantium, Antioch and Jerusal where many Beneditine monasteries were founded by people form Amalfi.Some of the Benedidtine monasteries in Amalfi Coast still etain fine fresco cycle from High Middle Ages, most of each show Byzantine influences. Cistercian and Franciscan monasteries were were founded between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries at Amalfi , Ravello, Maiori, Tramonti and Cetara.

La Costiera Amalfitana amata e apprezzata dai Vip e non solo
Terra di viaggiatori e di memorie antiche e moderne
Da quando, agli albori dell'eta' moderna, avventurieri e giovani aristocratici del Nord Europa si arrischiavano tra incerti sentieri e un mare infido alla ricerca delle vestigia dell'antico ducato marinaro fino alla prima meta' del Novecento, quando scrittori, artisti, cosmopoliti, dive del cinema venivano in Costiera a rifugiarsi dalle tempeste della storia o delle passioni o solamente per sfuggire al clamore della celebrita', e ancora oggi che i turisti affollano piazzette e vicoli richiamati dall'incanto del paesaggio, chiunque ha avuto la ventura di visitare questi luoghi ne ha tratto un'immagine e un'idea del tutto personale ed indelebile.
D'altra parte e' proprio questa peculiarita' di quella " terra sospesa tra cielo e mare" , come cantava il poeta americano, Longfellow: ciascuno può vedervi riflesso un suo stato d 'animo, immaginare una diversa modalita' del vivere,intuire il senso di un altrove.Tutto sta nell'oltrepassare la soglia dell'oleografia turistica: allora emerge un'altra Costiera, in cui le gole, gli scorci, l'architettura, i monumenti, non ci chiamano ad una banale visita turistica, piuttosto trasformano il soggiorno in un viaggio, non fisico, ma interiore. Si pensi che, secondo il National Geographic, anche la strada statale 163 Amalfitana è stata classificata come una delle più belle strade al mondo. I vicoli e le scalette che caratterrizzano Positano hanno ispirato il cantautore napoletano Roberto Murolo nella celebre canzone “La Scalinatella”.
La Costiera Amalfitana è una perla adagiata sul Mediterraneo e da secoli è una delle mete indiscusse del turismo internazionale. Basti pensare che una recente classifica di Tripadvisor, colloca Amalfi nelle prime 13 destinazioni sulle 100 più famose e affascinanti del mondo. A conferma di questo, Ivana Trump, nota miliardiaria americana, alla domanda su dove vorrebbe trascorrere la sua vecchiaia ha risposto “In Costiera Amalfitana naturalmente”.
La presenza della Costiera nei racconti mitologici dei viaggi e nella letteratura italiana comincia secoli fa, fra questi è d’obbligo ricordare che proprio Boccaccio parla della Costiera come “la parte più dilettevole d’Italia, una costa piena di piccole città, giardini e fontane”. Addirittura in una delle sue opere più famose, il Decameron, egli rese protagonista un nobile ravellese, Landolfo Rufolo. Amalfi è famosa per essere la città natale di Masaniello, famoso per essere stato il protagonista della rivolta napoletana del 1646, nella quale il popolo insorse contro la pressione fiscale imposta dal governo spagnolo.
Oltre ad essere famosa in tutto il mondo, la sua bellezza ha catturato e affascinato tantissimi personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo, del cinema, dello sport e della politica, nazionali ed internazionali.
Nella primavera del 1880 a Ravello giunse Richard Wagner; al tempo, il grande musicista tedesco lavorara alla stesura dell’opera “Il Parsifal” ed è evidente che, i bellissimi giardini di Klingsor, lo abbiamo ispirato nella riuscita delle meravigliose melodie. Anche il geniale Mirò ha visitato la nostra bella costa e lo scrittore parigino Andrè Gide che ha ambientato parte del suo romanzo “L’immoralista” proprio qui.
Maiori fu scelta dal regista Roberto Rossellini come location dei suoi film, tra questi uno dei più famosi “Paisà”. Personaggi illustri come Greta Garbo, Virginia Wolf, Humprey Bogart, Jacqueline Kennedy, Hillary Clinton e tanti altri, hanno scelto di vivere la Divina Costiera durante le loro vacanze. Lo scrittore Gore Vidal, che fu un grande estimatore di Ravello, affacciandosi alla terrazza di Villa Cimbrone disse: “Dalla sua terrazza si gode il panorama più bello del mondo”. Anche Sofia Loren e il marito Carlo Ponti hanno deciso di acquistare una villa in Costiera per goderne la bellezza tutto l’anno. Impossibile non citare altri personaggi famosissimi come Paul Valery, Einaudi, Paul Newman, Robert De Niro, Marc Zuckenberg, Ben Stiller, Brad Pitt e Angelina Jolie, e tanti altri.
Da anni Ravello è la protagonista indiscussa della scena musicale internazionale grazie ad alcune manifestazioni, come il Ravello Festival che ha ospitato e ospita artisti di fama mondiale. L’edizione del 2012 è stata omaggiata dall l’Evergreen Simphony Orchestra di Taiwan e l’appuntamento di quest’anno ospiterà uno degli artisti più giovani e apprezzati cinesi: il pianista Yun Di. 
La Costiera è da sempre un punto di riferimento anche per le forze politiche, italiane e internazionali. E’ notizia di pochi mesi fa che l’ambasciatore della Repubblica Popolare Cinese in Italia (Ding Wei), e sua moglie siano stati ospiti di Amalfi e Ravello. Anche personaggi della politica italiana del calibro di De Gasperi e Togliatti hanno amato Amalfi e la sua costa.
Importanti riviste sul turismo hanno dedicato servizi sulla Divina: Condè Nast Traveller, ad esempio, nelle sue edizioni cinese e indiana hanno celebrato la bellezza e la notorietà della Costiera Amalfitana.
